Cabin Fever
04:45
|
|||
A foggy day in my mountain home and I was dreaming of getting out.
Tattered dreams with a broke estate and plenty of wasted space
to fill my mind with possibilities of things I could never say.
A blue light burns a hole inside; my soul is ready to break.
And I said, "Hey, maybe time would be enough, it would be all we need to grow away from this lack of sympathy, this discontent we breed. The window of our potential has been shattered through by the likes of you. And I'm ready to build it again."
Growing comfortable with stranger friends reminiscing of a better life. Losing grip on reality and what it never meant to me.
These people live but they never think -- at least believe they're free.
Concerns of love and happy endings seem too deep to be conceived.
And I said, "Hey, maybe time would be enough, it would be all we need to grow away from this lack of sympathy, this discontent we breed. The window of our potential has been shattered through by the likes of you. And I'm ready to build it again."
I just want to share with you the little things that make me smile,
the happiness that's always there in the colder places of life.
Stepping back from myself I find there's so much to be learned.
There's bridges to be burned and scars to be healed.
The happiness that we both enjoyed, the sunshine that we shared
are only kept alive with a melody of a memory impaired.

Borrowed Time
04:02
|
|||
I found myself screaming on a soapbox on a Sunday afternoon
Tearing down my pictures and letting them dance in the breeze
Show me the light
Why am I stopping while the world is set to move
A changed perspective but I'm still caught in-between
Blinded in sight
I try to hide and hope I won't be found
but everyone is looking, I guess it's plain to see
A purpose in life; well, I say the world looks so much better upside down
So turn it over and take a look with me
Some folks are living in a world of borrowed time
Waiting on a future that they might just leave behind
And after all the memories to make are said and done
You'll be fine waiting on the truth of a world you thought you knew
So gone, are the days of our youth
Wasted on the innocence of a dream left incomplete
Say goodnight and go to sleep
Fitting in won't bring you down
Standing out won't let you hide
But if you try you might get by
I get by
Waiting on the truth of a world I thought I knew

Fault Line
04:19
|
|||
I rest my troubles on a fault line and pray for the earth to shake them off
We'll find each other in our own time -- where some things are better left forgot
I don't want to be here; I want to be alone
I don't want to be here; I want to go home
The rain is pouring, but I don't mind. My world could use a cleansing wash
I might be drowning, but it's alright, I'll go back inside when you're gone
Take me back to my blue mountains -- to where I started.
Make some room for the brokenhearted.
Leave your worries disregarded and we can finally live.
Memories like the color of our pictures fade and all that's left are the shadows that remain.
Holding on to scattered pieces left forgotten and unseen is not the kind of life that ever appealed to me.
So take me back home.

Move With Me
05:04
|
|||
The sun's content to shine behind the holes inside the cemetery gates
Giving light to all the souls who lost their way
But they're still running
When the stars reach their peak and they shine brighter than the moon
When all that's left is what remains of me and you
Will you stay smiling?
The morning comes and kills the night while it's still young
The rooster crows, well he's just waiting for the gun
But he's still singing
Don't look behind 'cause there is nothing to be done
Don't look ahead and there is nothing to be won
Just look at me
The fog rolls in and I am ready to move
Would you want to move with me?
Simple secrets never seemed so cruel
'Til the one you told to me
I took a walk around the block while it was cold
With lofty hopes of finding a story to be told
Well, I'm still walking
The moments come and just as swiftly they will fade
Constantly replaced with newer faces and better names
Oh I miss the old days
The fog rolls in and I am ready to move
Would you want to move with me?
Simple secrets never seemed so cruel
'Til the one you told to me
I've been waiting up for you
And you're not ready to help me face the truth

Jezebel
04:45
|
|||
Swing low, young Jezebel, and let your strike ring true. Think hard about your words, because some scars you can't undo.
I found a sweeter love and she's much better than you. She shows me colors I can't imagine, and they're all a shade of blue.
I am looking for a way out without causing a scene. A simple way, a quick escape, to wake me from this dream. I am done. I am spent. I am ready to repent, and I am eager to forget.
I know it's out there, I know it's hard to believe, but, baby, you've just got to trust in me.
You made your choice and you made up your mind without me. You'll find, in time, the guilty eyes can see.
